Balamban: The Hidden Paradise of Cebu

A SHORT  HISTORY
OF

The town derived its name from a native term, "balang-balang" which refers to the linked arms of the natives formed as improvised seat to carry/ferry Spaniards in crossing the river. The name "balang-balang" was shortened to "bang-bang" which eventually became "Balamban." The Spaniards first settled in Barangay Nangka, where traces of excavated stone tablets were found and believed to be housing construction materials popular in those early days.

LOCATION

The Municipality of Balamban is situated 21 statute miles or 31 kilometers N 40 degrees, 30
min. west from the City of Cebu, squatting on a coastal area facing Tañon Strait. It is bounded
by the town of Asturias on the north, by Toledo City on the south, by Danao City and
Compostela on the east, and by Tanon Strait on the west.

Let's move on to the mountainous part of my hometown
This is where you get the best view of Cebu City and the mountainous area of Cebu and Balamban. The scenic mountains with the abundance and fragrance of locally grown flowers are worth seeing at the same time enjoy the cold wind even on sunny days.
